My Teaching Philosophy

"A child has a hundred languages" -Reggio Emilia

I believe children learn best through play. It is the time they are most engaged as well as having the most fun. I believe children are competent and capable, and full of potential. It is unbelievably important for children to have some control over the direction of their learning and they must have endless opportunities to express themselves. Children must also be able to touch, move, listen, see, and hear in order to fully process something and we encourage children to interact with other children and explore the world through material items and relationships. Our environment works an extra teacher in our classroom providing endless learning opportunities with manipulatives, dramatic play, building blocks, art and reading.
Our classroom and our curriculum is constantly changing as is every child in our room. Children are not meant to fit into a lesson plan, the plan should be able to fit the child.

"If a child can't learn the way we teach, maybe we should teach the way they learn"
-Ignacio Estrada

"The mediocre teacher tells. The good teacher explains. The superior teacher demonstrates. The great teacher inspires"
-William Arthur Ward
